VBAC Mentoring - 1:1 VIP mentoring
This is my signature program. It has been such an amazing journey to put this together - starting with just 3 points and growing to a full on, 12 session, 10 principle process.
This program combines all the best bits of my magic. The debriefing, exploring options, asking questions, journaling, building and solidifying relationships, navigating a system that is fundamentally broken, birth planning, and stepping deeply into your own power.
I developed this program as I was asked how preparing for a VBAC is different to preparing for any other birth. Many women preparing for a VBAC need extra time and space to work through their caesarean births, they have additional restrictions and policies to navigate, they have different doubts, fears, and hopes. And the system treats them differently - being labelled "high risk" creates a whole new shit storm to get through.
My VBAC mentoring will help you work through all of this: You will develop the skills to build the necessary relationships (care providers, partners, family, doula etc). You will know yourself more deeply than ever before. You will connect in with your baby and body. You will put together a birth plan (and plan B, and partner plan, and any other plans you need) and confidently communicate it to those you wish to share it with.
You will find YOUR clarity, YOUR power, and YOUR birthy truth. It's all inside of you and I will help you bring it out so that you can navigate this amazing journey with confidence, pizzazz, and zero bullshit.
The 10 principles that my program is based on are:
Philosophy: Getting clear on what VBAC means to you and your partner.
People: Ensuring that only useful people are taking up space in your birth space and recognising the influences of others on your VBAC preparation.
Physiology: Debriefing previous birth and exploring all the ways that your physiology is just perfect for birth.
Psychology: Fears, concerns, previous trauma, hopes, and goals - we go deep.
Prophesy: Lets explore different types of evidence and your own personal relationship to statistics and evidence.
Politics: Navigating a system that is fundamentally broken and non woman focussed.
Preparation: The myths and the reality. Balancing body, mind, and soul.
Planning / presentation: Let's get that birth plan ready!
Plan B: Just in case...
Post-partum: The fourth trimester is one of the most important - we'll make sure that you have the systems in place to get it off to a fabulous start.

DOULA SUPPORT
Planning a VBAC can be hard work and sometimes quite isolating. Especially if you are working on stepping into your power, becoming more assertive, and making powerful decisions.
You can choose to have a doula to support you and your partner and hold space during this journey.
What does that look like?
As your doula I will:
- Help you get clear on what sort of birth you want - I will make sure that we are all on the same page.
- Answer any questions that you have about me and my birth philosophy - We need to make sure that I am the right fit for YOUR journey.
- Ensure that you understand all your pregnancy and birth options and trust you to make the decisions that will be right for YOU - Zero judgement here.
- Help you put together a birth plan that clearly articulates what YOU have decided for this birth - And support you to communicate this with your care provider if you need.
- Support your partner to be the best birth support he can be - I'm NOT there to replace him.
- Remind you that you are powerful and awesome even if your plan needs to change - Coz you are.
- Come to any appointments that you want additional support with - The birth journey starts long before you go into labour.
- Help you to access any additional support / care that you need along the way - I have a great network of birthy peeps for all stages of the journey.
- Listen to you - your hopes, dreams, fears, stories - these are all important and I will NEVER tire of hearing them.
I'm interested! What next?
Get in touch and we will book a free meet and greet session. You can send me a message via the contact me tab or email me at lizzie@lizziecarroll.com.au. Let me know a bit about yourself, your journey, and what you are looking for in a doula. Then we can book in a session to talk through everything and make sure I would be a good fit for your journey.
How does the session schedule work?
You get 5 sessions - in person. These are usually in your home, but sometimes it's nice to go out for a coffee! You might choose to use one or more of these sessions to have me support you at a care provider appointment.
In between sessions we will message or email each other - You can send me questions, I will ask you about care provider appointments, you can debrief etc....
You can borrow books from my birthy books library.
I will be on call for you from 38 weeks until baby comes. This means that I will be available to come to you as soon as you call me. My phone stays on, my doula bag is packed, and I remind my partner every day that "today could be the day". If you are concerned about the possibility of going into labour earlier than 38 weeks, just let me know.
When you go into labour, you let me know. We chat and see if you need me to be physically present yet or if some telephone support is all that is needed. I can support you at home before you transfer to hospital (or all the way to birth if you decide that you don't need the hospital or are planning to birth at home). If you are having an induction I can come when you need me.
And then I stay and provide the necessary support through until after baby is born and you are feeling settled. If labour is long, I will ensure that I take breaks as needed - and I'll ensure that your partner takes breaks as needed.
Once you and baby are settled I head home for some sleep and / or a celebratory drink.
I will keep in fairly close touch with you over the days following birth. You can ask questions, share stories, debrief the birth, send photos, and tell me how wonderful your baby is.
We will usually have 1 post natal visit. This is for debriefing and chatting and "closing the circle". I generally aim for this to be sometime around the 4 - 6 weeks mark, but it's quite flexible.
How much is my monetary investment?
$1800. You can pay upfront when you book me, or I can arrange a payment plan. I know that you are buying all sorts of baby stuff and have lots of competing expenses. Don't feel weird about asking for a payment plan or letting me know if you need a little extra time.
If you have any questions about any of this please get in touch.
It is never too early or too late to hire a doula, so stop waiting for "the right time" and just email me.
